El Cobijo - A Shelter for Seniors
Providing the Essentials of Living, Entertainment & Love
Profile

El Cobijo has been operating for 31 years. They hold two fundraising events a year as well as sell books written by the Father who founded the non profit. A handful of family members try to pay a monthly stipend for the care of their loved one.
In Mexico there are no grants to apply for, nor does the government subsidize any costs for the care of seniors. It costs 50,000 pesos a month to run the shelter. (2,617 us per month).
Irene has been the Director for 8 years now and sometimes has to be very creative with the food donations they receive in order to get them through. She is always gracious with the donations I have brought and welcomes any entertainment I arrange to bring. They dream of repairing the second wing of the building that was damaged in a hurricane several years ago, so they can house more seniors.
Through People Power Parties Lisa hopes to produce a stream of financial support that is as steadfast as the staff and volunteers who dedicate their lives to the seniors in their care. With your help this is possible.
